Namecheap's first-year promos are genuinely cheap — the table below says so. What people move over is the second column: renewals at several times the promo price. Both columns for both of us are below, so you can decide with the whole cost in front of you before anything moves.

Namecheap prices are USD, from our maintained comparison tables (last updated June 2026) and change with promos — verify on their site before deciding. Ours are EUR, read from the same table our checkout charges from — where a TLD has a minimum term (.co.uk registers in 2-year terms), day one costs that many years. ×N marks a renewal at twice the first-year price or more. We are not always the cheapest — on purpose, and in print
On a plain .com renewal, Namecheap is cheaper than us, and Cloudflare or Sav are cheaper than both — our own TLD guides list them. What you get here instead: the renewal price printed before you pay, EUR billing with no currency spread, WHOIS privacy wherever the registry permits it, and a human who answers. If the cheapest possible renewal is all that matters, our guides will point you at the right registrar — even when it isn't us.
How a transfer works
For most gTLDs (.com, .net, .org, .io and friends): unlock the domain at Namecheap, request the auth/EPP code, and approve the transfer — it completes in about five days and adds a year to your registration at the receiving side's price. UK domains move differently (an IPS-tag change, usually same-day), and some country TLDs have their own rules. One thing to plan for: if your DNS runs on the losing registrar's own nameservers (Namecheap's BasicDNS is their default), that DNS service stops answering once the domain leaves them — so we check your nameservers first and, where needed, help you move DNS before the transfer so nothing goes dark.
